Beggar's Night

After our plane ride, the kids for ready to go treat-or-treating. In Iowa they have Beggar's Night the day before Halloween. The state made this for the children's safety, so the kids aren't running around on Halloween Day.
Hailey is a kitty cat and Robert is Thomas the Tank Engine.
Here is Gramma wrestling Hannah into her butterfly costume.
Robert was so excited to be Thomas. This boy just loves trains.
Hannah's cute little wings as she crawls away.
Hailey also wanted her face painted. So here is Gramma trying her best.  She did a wonderful job. Hailey was so pleased with it.  I would have just done simple, boring whiskers; but thankfully Gramma went all out.
Here's the kids at their first stop (Gramma and Grampa's house). This great action picture is taken through their screen door.
Hannah was in her stroller the whole time, but Robert and Hailey occasionally got candy for her and put it in her bucket.
Here's pretty kitty with her make-up on.
Even Robert got Thomas painted on his cheek.
We just went around the block and was out for an hour.  This felt like the right amount of time to me, though I remember as a kid (10ish) going through several neighborhoods.
A few houses had their candy on their porch.  The kids were excited to hit every house.
Hannah was pretty content in her stroller the whole time. And it seemed like one moment she was awake. Then the next moment, she was...
...asleep, snug as a bug!
The kids had fun admiring the different decorations that were out.
Hailey was talking a lot to one neighbor and near the end of the conversation he told her she was a very smart cookie. Then Hailey frowned and said "I'm a kitty!" like she couldn't believe and was a little insulted that he couldn't tell what she was.
I love this decoration.  It makes me laugh. Then Hailey asked this neighbor if that was supposed to be funny. He told her he thought it was funny and that she got the joke behind it.
Here we are at our last stop.  It feels more like Halloween when you go around a neighborhood instead of a complex.

Airplane Ride

We had the opportunity to take the airplane to visit my parents.

So here we are trying to find our correct terminal. It's about 8:00am.
There was a play area very close to our gate, so after we got donuts, the kids burned energy here.
I have them all in their Halloween PJ's because it's Oct 30th, easy to get out the door, and very easy to see.
Then we waited a while at the gate and the plane ended up being 1/2 hour late.  However, there was a guy who made balloon animals for the kids. Hailey got a penguin.

 Robert got a happy baby.
The plane ride was great. Hannah slept for the first 45minutes. Robert wouldn't stay in his seat because he wanted to look out the window.  To entertain him while we landed, I gave him the camera and this was the best picture. All the others had his finger in it.

Hailey sat across the aisle next to this sweet lady who listened to her and interacted with her. Hailey talked her ear off. It was a relief to me to have someone so nice to sit with her.

Then when we got off the airplane, we had a nice surprise and mom and dad were able to meet us at the gate. The kids were so excited. While I waited to get the stroller, they ran down to see them.

After a two hour car drive and a quick dinner, we went trick-or-treating for beggars nights.

Halloween Parade

The week of Halloween, the library does a Halloween parade to all the librarians desk during story time.

Robert went as a Handy Man.

 Hannah is a ballerina.
Here's Robert getting his candy in his tool box.
This is our friend, Josie and her kids.
Here's Hailey in the pink ballerina dress next her story lady who is the potato head.
Here's a better picture of Hannah's costume.
