Finger Nail Painting

Mom and I were down in the basement looking through my old boxes and found a Nail Art book by Klutz that I have had for a long time. We brought it out along with other books and Hailey picked it up and wanted her nails painted.  She picked out the blue nails with a smiling sun. Robert didn't want to be left out and picked the caboose. So Gramma pulled out washable paints and got started.

It was hard to work with tiny nails but they kids loved it.  Hailey was very sad when they washed off.

Big Boy and Centenial

After the Omaha Zoo, we went to the Botanical Gardens and saw the two huge trains at the top of the hill.

This one was named Big Boy but Robert wanted to called him Gordon.

The tiny little people next to Big Boy is Gramma carrying Robert and Hailey trailing behind.

 Robert loves trains and was so trilled to see them.

 Hailey likes trains because Robert does.

 This yellow train was called Centennial. Robert had another name for this one too, maybe it was Spencer or Diesel, I don't quite remember.

 I love this funny look and actually get it a lot from him.  He can be quite a character.

 And here's Hailey cute poutty face. It was a long and very fun day.

Omaha Zoo

The great thing about the Omaha Zoo is that on a chilly day, you can still go and see a lot of animals in the buildings.

We went to the Desert Dome first.

In the basement of the Desert Dome is Creatures of the Night.

 Robert loves Alligators.  Here is a very rare white alligator.

Then we went into the Jungle which is my favorite building.

Hailey's so brave to go all by herself.

We are watching the baby monkey. I was very fascinated with the interaction between the fearless baby and the very concerned mother.

Hailey loves the limelight and started doing little poses for Grampa.

We haven't gotten in the butterfly building yet because no strollers are allowed. However, we never miss a photo ob on the butterfly chairs.

We finished up at the Aquarium.  Robert and Hailey are taller then King Penguins but not quite as tall as Emperor Penguins.

We had a fun day but it ended on a sad note.  We were sitting at picnic tables outside for a little snack break, when Robert tipped his metal wired chair and fall on the floor. He bit his tongue so hard that there was a long cut.  He almost cut through his tongue.  It was hard to look at and I was very concerned about it but there is nothing to do for a tongue injury.  The next day, the cut seemed to close some and was completely healed a whole week later.  Unfortunately, this was only the start of his accidents on our vacation.

Story Time

Another great thing about being at Gramma and Grampa's house is that there are different books to read and new people to read to the kids. Here's Grampa going through Robert's favorite foam book.

Here's a video of Hailey reading Bears in the Night by Jan and Stan Bernstein. She was reading to Robert but when he saw I had the camera, he had to look at the camera too which is why the video is so shaky.

Hailey has the whole book memorized word for word!

Halloween at Living History Farm

On Halloween day we went to the Living History Farms.

They had many little scenes to take pictures at. Robert just didn't want to dress up today. So I wore his Thomas Hat to help convince him, hoping he would get jealous but that didn't work and I forgot I had it on.

Hannah was bouncing back and forth, happy to be out of the stroller and apart of things.

Hailey and Robert were very cautious about this pizza guy. Hailey was brave enough to shake his hand though.

We walked along a designated path and at some houses they were giving out candy.

Hailey and Robert liked the ghost.

We also did a horse-pulled hay ride while we were there. The kids really like horses. The driver just said there names and they would either go or stop.  One day it would be nice to have my kids trained like that.

We also roasted marshmallows.

I am holding Robert's stick since I don't trust in with fire yet.

Then we went into the barn and there was an excellent story teller there.  She told a story about a farmer trying to get the biggest pumpkin out of the garden and calling on his family to help.

Hailey was called up to be apart of the story which she was so thrilled with. Also Robert was so entranced with the story that he just wander to the front which is very until him in a crowd. Generally he is glued to my side.

On our way out, we stopped by the fire truck and ambulance.

I think the kids really enjoyed all the different activities they did in connection to Halloween.
