First Taste of Cereal

My hungry monkey always wants to be feed. So, in desperation we tried cereal.
I have to pin his arm down because he is very curious and has a strong grip.
Hailey is trying to help by offering him her cup with a straw.
I only was able to get him to eat two bites but that's pretty good for the first attempt.
After I was done trying, I put Robert on the floor. Then Hailey finds one of her old baby bibs, puts it on, tries the cereal herself, then brings it over to Robert.
Here's Miss Big Helper trying to feed him.
However, not a lot got in his mouth, just around his mouth and on his arm. It was very sweet and funny. I love my little babies.

Summer Fun

The street leading to our apartment complex circles a big field in the middle. If you walk along the outside of the field, commonly known as going around "the loop," it is one mile. For the end of summer activity the complexes set up a big slip-n-slide and provided homemade root beer.
Nathan took Hailey down the slide, while I took care of a teething baby. Hailey really enjoyed it which was surprising since she doesn't like cold water and won't go down slides by herself. I guess being with daddy makes it all better.
At the end of the slide is a huge, grassy puddle that got everyone who went down dirty.
Hailey even went down the big slide by myself, with a push from dad, and flipped to stomach on the way down. She was very scared and didn't go back down again. After that she found other friends to play with and followed Audrey (the little girl in the white shirt) where ever she went.

Haircut by Mommy

I've always been jealous of the little girls who have lots of hair, so I don't want Hailey's hair cut. However, her bangs are a bit too long and gets stuck in her nose.
Out of pity or maybe more out of disgust, I decided to cut it.
I could only find my safety scissors which didn't cut very well and Hailey kept moving her head side to side. I think it's kinda cute but it's not even and shorter than I planned on. I guess that it's good enough since it's out of her way and her hair grows fast. Hopeful next time will be easier and I'll find better scissors.

Summer Vacation

This summer, we took our family trip to Utah. On Thursday, we first went to Cherie's (Nathan's mom) condo in Salt Lake City, dropped off our things then went to Provo to spend time with Morgan and Eva. (Morgan is Nathan's brother). It was good being able to see them since we only meet Eva in big family gatherings. We went out to eat at Ihop, and discovered that liking breakfast food was another thing we had in common.

We made it back to the condo around 8:00, to find the we can't get in. There are two locks on the door. We have the key to the top one and no one is supposed to use the bottom lock. However, a two year old can't read and we think while we were moving our stuff in and setting up that she turned the lock. We had a lock smith come out that night but his solution was to drastic and expensive. He wanted to drill the lock out and would charge $120 for it. So we left and stayed at Cherie's house in American Fork. Luckily, I did an amazing job packing the diaper bag, and had everything thing necessary for the kids. (Generally, I don't pack enough wipes or diapers.)

It took most of Friday morning to try all the keys Cherie had and try different doors to get in. But ultimately we got another locksmith out there and she took 2 minutes and only $45 to get us in. Though this was frustrating we were able to spend good quality time together outside without any other distractions. That afternoon we all had showers and baths, and took naps.

Saturday was a great day. In the morning we picked up my sister, Kerstin and went to Hogle Zoo. Hailey loved the attention she got from her aunt and warmed up to her quickly.
Hailey got the most excited about the big cats. There was a cougar that would walk to one side, stop, pose, do a little yell, then walk to the other side and repeat. She loved playing with this statue and would give it lots of hugs and kisses.
Robert was asleep through most of it.
This statue really scared Hailey and wouldn't go near it alone.
After the zoo, we ate at Wendy's, then went to Eva's baby shower. After the shower we went back to Kerstin's apartment and had dinner.
We also played a dice rolling game called Farkle. Hailey, who could barely hold the dice was winning until she lost interest and went to do something else. It was only until the end of the game that I started to get good rolls.
We went home on Sunday.
We had a good family vacation and are very sad that the summer is ended.

Apron

With Hailey wanting to help out more and more in the kitchen, I decided that I needed an apron.
Hailey's handprints are in red and Robert's footprints are in yellow. I'm so happy about how this turned out and that we didn't get any paint on the floor or on our clothes.

Big Sister is Helping

Hailey is a big help with Robert and loves to push him around in the baby doll's stroller. Robert loves it because he is outside and is moving. It is fun to watch Hailey interact with Robert. She kinda has a love-hate relationship with him. She'll spend just 5 minutes a day with him giving him loves and tickles, then ignores him the rest of the time. She also tries to take toys from him, even though she hasn't played with it for several months. We are working on teaching Hailey to find and give a toy to Robert's hand. The first time I wasn't specific enough and she dropped the toy on his face.
*Disclaimer: Having a real baby in the doll's stroller isn't the safest thing to do. A couple of weeks after this picture was taken, the stroller broke while Robert was in it. I fixed the stroller and we've stopped putting him in it. But it was sure helpful to calm him down while it lasted.

Mr. Potato Head

Hailey loves playing with Mr. Potato Head but she got a little bored with decorating the potato and since she had so many items left over, she started putting them on herself and Robert.
Hailey has a moustache in her mouth, an ear in her ear and an orange nose in her other ear. She also tried putting the nose up her own nose but that didn't work out too well.
Hailey also managed to get the glasses on Robert.
