Updates

It seems like it's been a while since I blogged. So here are random pictures for our random updates.
Let's start with Robert. He will not eat from a spoon for mommy!!! So, cereal only works out if Nathan or Darlene feeds him. I went to the doctor's on Monday because he has extreme dry skin on his back and had little sores forming. He weights 16 lbs and 3 oz. Hailey was 15 lbs and 13 oz at a year. Since I was curious I quickly weighed Hailey at the office too. She is currently 21 lbs and 13 oz but she had all her clothes on so she's a little less.

Also, with Robert is very close to crawling. He can get on his hands and knees by himself and rock back and forth. Generally he just goes backwards and in circles. When he goes forward, he gets on his knees, jumps forward and lands on his tummy, then he gets back on his hands and knees again. It's a slow process so he just gives up and cries.
On Saturday we went to Logan, UT for Nathan's Grandma's (Nathan's Mom's mom) 75th Birthday Party. It was good to see her and other extended family. Hailey had fun with the balloons and looking at the rabbits. For a picture, Aunt Alice suggested that Grandma Vesta should hold Robert. It was very special to see how Grandma lit up when she held him. That was the most interactive that I've seen her.

So, for fun I put hair pretties in Hailey's hair. I'm so surprised and happy about how it turned out.

Help with Hailey School

On Monday, we will be covering the letter M. For it we are going to do a Monkey Mailbox. I thought it would be fun if Hailey had some letters from other people besides her parents. If you could write a little note to Hailey we would appreciate it. To see how Hailey's school has been progressing chick on this link: Hailey's School.

While I'm Blogging...

This is what Hailey did to entertain herself. The "stickers" Hailey is using are the address labels you get in the mail when St. Jude is asking for money. They don't have my apartment number on them so I don't use them. We have plenty of stickers but theses where the ones she could get her little hands on.
Hailey put stickers on my arms, shirt, pants, on the couch and desk. I tried to give her a computer sheet of paper but she didn't think that was as entertaining.
Caught in the act and happy about it.

Lunch Time Conversation

I enjoy Hailey talking more to me but sometimes it's not as helpful as I would like. This is the conversation we had the other day about what Hailey wants for lunch. Hailey does a lot of repeating instead of answering the question.

Setting the stage: I'm on the computer typing some emails when Hailey starts to push on my chair to get my attention.

Hailey: Eat, eat
Audrey: Alright, it's time for lunch. Do you want a sandwich?
Hailey: no
Audrey: Do you want a hot dog?
Hailey: no
Audrey: so do you want a sandwich or hot dog?
Hailey: no -waits- bread He-He bread (He-He is Hailey's way of saying Hailey)
Audrey: You want a sandwich?
Hailey: sam, sam (while nodding her head)
Audrey: okay we'll do sandwiches.

I start making the sandwich. I have peanut butter on one side I want to know what she wants on the other side.

Audrey: Do you want honey?
Hailey: honey
Audrey: or jam
Hailey: jam
Audrey: honey or jam?
Hailey jam yes
Audrey: jam or honey
Hailey: honey yes
Audrey: we're not getting anywhere, you're just repeating
Hailey: where rep

So I go to the closet to get the jam and honey. Maybe a visual will help.

Audrey: honey or jam
Hailey: Jam

Hailey grabs the honey and walks away with it.

Audrey: Are you going to put the away for mommy?
Hailey: away

I'm trying to open the jam when...

Hailey: no jam, honey!
Audrey: you want honey?
Hailey: honey, honey, yes, honey
Audrey: fine

So she got honey instead of jam and ate only a quarter of her sandwich.

Other Hailey-isms:
die-die = bye-bye
da-da = daddy
da-dee = baby

Audrey and All done sound the same.

Baby's New Trick

Robert can now sit up all by himself. Hailey couldn't do that until after she learned to crawl. Robert can't pull himself into a sitting position by myself but once he is sitting he can stay like that for 10-15 minutes.

Robert also has his two bottom teeth. He got them at the beginning of this month. Hailey got teeth her bottom teeth around 5 months also and if he continues to follow her pattern, we should see a top tooth within a month's time.

Little Chef

Here are cute pictures of Hailey with a chef's hat and a hot pad mitten.
Hailey loves hats.
Now she's cooking with her little blue pot.
This little cooking set entertained Hailey for a while which was get for me. It also helpful that Hailey has her own set of pans to use when I'm cooking. She loves to help but is sometimes too helpful.

My Little Man

Robert is a little sweet heart and has been progressing a lot. I'm sad that he is no longer my little baby. A week from today he will be 6 months. In October, we'll find out how much he weighs but I bet it's around 15 pounds. That may not really seem like a lot but Hailey is over two years old and is only 20 pounds. Robert seems like a big boy to us.

To recap his 5th month these are the milestones he reached:

The first picture was taken on June 19, 2008. He enjoys being on his tummy and will stay there for a little while. The second picture was taken on August 20th, 2008. He is up on his hands and will rotate on his tummy in a full circle. But even in the last two weeks, Robert has been trying to get on his knees. He scoots around backwards and if when my back is turned, he'll go from one side of the room to the other.
He's a cute picture of Robert. Nathan was the one who put the necklace on him. I love his cute little face and blue eyes. His hair is very short and getting lighter, however, it's not light enough to cover the white patch of hair in the back.
He is generally a happy boy and smiles easily.
Robert also recently perfected the art of rolling over both ways. He used this chair to help and loves being in confined areas.
