Nathan's Update

Unfortunately, the person least featured on this blog is Nathan. He works very hard at school and generally stays there from 8:00am to 5:00pm. So I want to give a quick update on his accomplishments.

After the winter semester was done, Nathan took the written portion of his Master's test. He took this test last year and didn't pass. Fortunately, we was still able to start his doctorate courses which helped him understand the principles of Real Analysis which is his Master's degree focus. So, after getting a new committee and a new test, he was able to pass it. The next step was his Oral Exam which can be over anything he took during this graduate studies.

He was able to get another committee organized during the summer. This summer he taught a class the first 8 weeks and took one class. Almost everyday, he came to park lunches with us which the kids enjoyed seeing him more. After his classes we over, he took his Oral Exam. He was very nervous and it took 2 hours. Immediately, the committee took a break and decided Nathan's fate.

HE PASSED!!!

So this means he is completely done with his Master's Degree and is just waiting for it to come in the mail now. ISU only does one graduation ceremony a year so Nathan will be walking in May.

Now, he only has two years left of his Doctorate program. Besides his course work, he has four tests to take and a discretion at the end.
