Places around Des Moines

My parent's have year long Grandparent's passes to three local places; the Science Museum, the Living History Farms, and the Blank Park Zoo.

The Science Museum
The day after we arrived, we let the kids stretch out their legs by taking them to the Science Museum. Hailey loves racing these balls.
Uncle Kyle came with us and they are posing next to Hailey's imprint.

There was a bubble section which Robert loved. Our little social butterfly loves to play with others and with the help of Mommy and Gramma, they put this arch together.
The Living History Farms

We spent two days at the Living History Farms. The first day, we were only able to see the 1875 village since we came so late in the afternoon.
Hailey was fascinated with how they used to pump water. She pumped the can full of water all by herself.

Both kids enjoyed the broom making shop since they were allowed to test out the brooms.

The other building that Hailey enjoyed (but I didn't get pictures of) was the school house. She liked to pretend that she was teacher and I was her student.

We spent the second day, at three different farms. There was a 1700 farm by the Indians, a 1850 farm by pioneers, and the 1900's farmers.

My kids love to see animals.

Blank Park Zoo
We also went to the Blank Park Zoo, which is a pretty small zoo but a very nice one. In the first area, we could just follow a path around and be right where the swans, wallabies, and emus are.

In the grass, in front of Hailey is a wallaby.

They also had a small train which Robert liked to ride.

We also feed some of the animals. Robert kept picking up the rocks and throwing them at the animals instead of feeding them.

Hailey got to ride a camel. This was her favorite part because she talked about it for a couple of days.
There was a big playground and an area to pan for jewels. Robert loves to play in the water.
